A Quick Summary of Children's Beds
Buying a bed for a child is a very considered process. A child will spend a large proportion of their lives in their beds and getting a well-suited bed should provide comfortable and restful sleep. It is worth noting that the choice of a good mattress is equally important.
Single Beds
A timeless choice for children's bedrooms, single beds will normally be a full size, adult, single bed with a standard mattress size (3'0" × 6'3" / 90cm × 190cm) which should last through childhood. Smaller bed sizes are available but children may grow out of these. A full size single is a good "first bed" choice and may be used with a thinner mattress (6" / 15cm) initially so the bed does not feel too high or too far off the ground for very young children.

Small Double / UK Queen Size Beds
Small double beds offer extra width to the bed with a standard length and with a mattress size of 4'0" × 6'3" or 120cm × 190cm. They take up a little more space in the bedroom, but offer versatility and longevity. Small Doubles are a great spot for sharing bedtime stories and provide extra wriggle room for starfish sleepers. They also make the ideal bed for compact guest rooms, older children and teenagers.

Day Beds & Sofa Beds
A day bed is typically an adult size single bed with high ends and a high panel along the back. Usually positioned along a wall, the ends and back enclose the space and create a cosy nook with the addition of plenty of blankets and cushions. It is a perfect sanctuary for lounging and reading, or hanging out with friends. Taking a full size, proper mattress, this bed is a sofa by day and a restful bed come nightfall. The beds often come with a trundle drawer underneath too – versatile use of the space for storage or, with a mattress added, a sleepover or guest bed.

Bunk Beds
Essentially one single bed on top of another, bunk beds have a lot to offer. Bunk beds make the most of floor space whilst still keeping things fun, great for siblings and sharing or a sleepover option (which can be further enhanced by adding a trundle bed underneath the lower bunk). Some designs are properly detachable too, splitting into two full-size singles when the time comes.

Beds with Trundles
Trundles are large drawers that fit under single, double and bunk beds to utilise the space underneath. Most trundles will be mounted on unidirectional castors or better, independent multi-directional castors so that the drawer can be moved in and out from under the bed. The trundle will be slightly shorter than the length of the bed it fits under, and so if a mattress is added it will be a smaller size than the standard single.
Used as a drawer, a trundle offers a large capacity storage space, but if a mattress is added they can also be used as sleepover beds. Need extra storage or a spare bed without sacrificing space? All our Single, Small Double and Bunk Beds are available to purchase with a trundle.
Our trundle beds glide neatly underneath and feature solid bases for dual use – use as a roomy drawer or a guest bed with the addition of a trundle mattress. Sometimes, it's the smallest touches that make the biggest difference.
