Our high sleeper loft beds are the ideal space saving solution, where design, durability and practicality are expertly crafted together. All of our high sleeper beds have proper solid hardwood bed frames, which ensures that they are of the highest quality and stand the test of time. The loft beds are raised up as high as a bunk bed, with a range of useful furniture underneath.

Loft Beds

With children claiming independence earlier and earlier these days high sleepers (or loft beds as they are more commonly known) are multi-functional beds that offer choice and solutions for sleeping, doing homework, sleepovers, as well as storage space for all the clobber they seem to accumulate. Loft beds are the ultimate space saving solution for a child’s “living room” that will last well into adolescence.

Aesthetic, space-saving high beds from Little Folks Furniture

High sleeper beds are roughly the size of bunk beds but instead of a second bed at the bottom there is a whole range of useful furniture that can use the space without invading the rest of the space in the bedroom – a very compact solution. Desks of various sizes, bookcases, futon chairs, sofa beds – all can be fitted underneath.

Loft beds ought to easily last through in to teenage years – making them a good value investment. But they need to be designed and built to last the course, and should be aesthetically pleasing to truly do their job. So many loft bed designs seem to be acres of panel screwed together which can look quite imposing, but also we know from testing won’t take the stresses and strains of living over many years.

Take our Fargo Range of high sleepers. At the heart of the design is the robust “A” frames of the ends which come fully assembled. They incorporate full “mortice and tenon” jointing of the solid wood rails to the solid wood legs – which you could say have proved to be the strongest type of joints over centuries. We know it’s a small point – but actually it’s incredibly important if the loft bed is going to do its job day in day out. Modern dowel jointing simply won’t last as long, nor will screwing panels together.

Another important thing is we spend a lot of time thinking about how to assemble our loft beds and want to assure you it really is childsplay and won’t take long at all. Part of the integrity of our loft bed designs is that most of the components come already assembled (making them stronger) so there really is very little to do to put it all together. 

But whilst we take care to look at all the technical detail in loft beds we know they have got to look good too. The Fargo high sleepers set the standard in terms of classic looking and traditionally made beds. One could almost say our high sleepers are stately, and are finished in sophisticated, trending paint colours that will easily stand the test of time (as well as the odd knock or two!). Colours include a timeless Ivory White to an inspirational mid-tone Farleigh Grey and then the deep sophistication of a Brunswick Blue.

We are designers, we are manufacturers but above all we are passionate about making the best high sleepers possible and ensuring the designs work time after time. We are so involved in every detail that we have our very own test house where we physically test our products and actually measure how well they do. At the end of the day making sure the design of the loft beds meet the safety standards is one thing but we strive to make sure our high sleepers perform beyond this and all the time.
