How to transform your child’s room into a Christmas wonderland

  1. Festive Bedding

A quick and relatively cost effective way of injecting some Christmas fun into their room, look for bedding with classic Christmas motifs such as reindeer and stars for traditional bedrooms, and more modern, stylized designs for modern rooms. For bedding that will last that little bit longer past Christmas season, why not opt for a tartan check or stripe in deep reds or emerald greens.

Cosy blankets and Christmas themed scatter cushions are other ways to make more of a statement, since you can layer them up on the bed for effect.

  1. Add a few twinkling lights

If your children are old enough, and there is a safe way of hanging them, stringing up some fairy lights can instantly help create a cosy and magical atmosphere. Avoid draping anywhere near beds. - Up high and out of reach from little hands is best. Choose warm white lights for an instant lift.

  1. DIY decorations

Get crafty with your kids and make some DIY decorations. Paper snowflakes, hand-painted ornaments, and homemade garlands can add a personal touch to the room.

Traditional paper chains and paper machee baubles can add a vintage touch and are really fun to make with little ones too. – Win-win!

  1. Add a mini Christmas tree

Place a small Christmas tree in the corner of the room. Let your child decorate it with mini ornaments, school-made decorations, tinsel, and a tiny star on top. This can be their special tree to enjoy.

  1. Add some themed accessories

Add Christmas-themed accessories like soft toys, stockings, and festive wall art. You can even look for holiday-themed rugs and curtains to complete the look.

  1. Create a book nook

Create a cosy reading nook with a selection of Christmas-themed books. Add some comfy cushions and a warm blanket to make it a perfect spot for bedtime stories. You could even create more of a den with a teepee too.

  1. Add an advent calendar

Hang a 3D advent calendar with pockets. Each day, your child can open the door or check the pocket, for a new treat, building excitement as the big day approaches.

  1. Add some festive decals

Low-tack wall stickers or window decals are really quick and simple ways to add festive cheer to a child’s bedroom.

These ideas should help you create a magical Christmas bedroom that your kids will love!

Happy decorating!
