With so much time spent away from family & friends, we're getting ready for the return of the slumber party this month, ready for the summer (which reminds us: where has the sun gone!?) “Overnight stays away from home can be a lot of fun, but also challenging for children. Sleep anxiety can take away from that slumber party magic, so it’s important to make guests as comfortable as possible. Give each person their own space in which to relax. Trundle and futon beds are perfect for those without much space as they can be tucked away after use. Don’t discount sofa beds either, when positioned under a high-sleeper they can be a great space saving solution and used in lots of different ways, not just for sleepovers, but as reading and socialising spaces. Layer cushions and throws for an added cosy and comforting feel.” - Chris Lusty, Founder Here’s the low down on our best sleepover beds to create a comfy and welcoming space:
1. Futon chair-bed £195, available in a variety of colours
Simple yet sturdy, this whizzy chair-bed in one neatly folds flat with one quick manoeuvre. – Perfect for last minute sleepover guests. When in chair mode, the futon makes the ideal perch for reading and relaxing, and has a cool Scandi vibe that’d look just at home in a study or family room as it would in a child’s bedroom. With the base crafted from a solid beech wood and with special cross plates, it means that the futon mattress is well supported for years of use. A hard wearing twill cover with contrasting fabric buttons is a reminder that luxury and quality can always be found, even in those little details.
2. Trundle beds from £345 for Classic Beech bed with trundle
Trundles are set to be the buzz words in the world of children’s furniture for the remainder of 2021. – Whilst they’ve been around for years, never did we realise just how much importance trundle beds would have in a post pandemic life.
So, why do we love them so much?
Trundles truly are space saving geniuses, as they simply hide away under the proper bed until ready for use, when they roll into action (on multidirectional castors, of course, for ultra-easy manoeuvrability), with a mattress popped in. A trundle bed is as close as you’ll get to a proper bed for the guest, and said guest will thank you for the comfort after! What’s more, our trundle beds all have flat bases, which means that when they’re not being used as a bed, they can be giant storage drawers for toys and clothes.- Win win!
3. Day beds from £385 for the Classic Beech Day bed
Ok, so whilst our Day beds technically are trundle beds, we’ve given them their own shout out because they’re the ideal candidate for guest rooms. Especially ones that don’t have a huge amount of space in them. The day bed sits along the wall, and can be cleverly disguised as a sofa on a daily basis, but all you need is a couple of pillows and duvets, pull out the trundle, et voila! There you have 2 sleepover-ready beds! These beds are the pro’s of multifunctioning, in our book.
4. High sleepers with Sofa beds from £1275 for the Fargo loft
Let’s not forget about our high sleeper beds, where sleeping up amongst the stars is kind of a big deal. Well guess what else our Fargo high sleeper with sofa bed and desk does? Yes, not only does it have a high rise sleep platform on which to sleep on a nightly basis, but it also has a nifty sofa bed that can sit underneath the bed, or be pulled out elsewhere in the room (Or, even in another room – will they even notice if it accidentally ends up in the sewing room for snoozes?!) This sofa bed has a fully spec’d mattress on it, which means that there’s no faffing with extra mattresses needed, simply remove any scatter cushions, and style it up with a duvet and pillow, and you have yourselves an instant sleep space.
So there you have it! Slumber party ready! Off for a snooze ...
