With just over 8 weeks to go until the big day, we've been gathering our top tips on how to prepare your child's bedroom for the festive season.
Read on for top festive interior touches to embrace this season:
Clobber the clutter
Now is a great time to get sorting through outgrown toys and clothes, and find new homes to give them a new lease of life. Encourage your child to think about toys that they’d like to pass on in order to make space for new items.
When sorting, create three piles; Gift, Sell and Keep. Once you know which things you’d like keep hold of, investing in extra storage pre-Christmas will provide you with the space to store Christmas gifts from the get-go.
Go for Gold
For older children, adding a touch of metallic to a neutral bedroom will bling it up a little for the festive season. A few gold baubles, a painted wooden star or some metallic snowflakes are all great ways to inject a sense of luxury for Christmas.
Add all the trimmings
Bunting and garlands are effective and low-cost ways to add a little festive touch to their room. Take care to string them out of reach of little fingers though!
Create a spare bed for extra guests
There are a variety of ways to set up a comfy guest bed as a temporary space in a child’s room. If you have a single, day or double bed, making use of the space under the bed with a roll out trundle bed is the best way to optimize the bedroom space for extra guests.
If you need to make an extra sleeping space in a bedroom with a high sleeper, a fold out futon can be a good way of creating a temporary sleep solution. Usable as a comfy chair by day, the futon can fold out flat to make a cosy bed for night time.
Swap the bedding
Changing over their bedlinen for Christmas is a sure-fire way to spruce up their space. Motifs such as forest themes and stars are great classic options that you can roll out every year. Change up the colour palettes each year by choosing different cushions and blankets!
Add a miniature tree
There’s nothing like a little Christmas tree of their own, for them to decorate as they wish. Pick a colour palette and then let them dress their own tree to look after. From handmade decorations through to bold pops of colour, there really is no limit when it comes to Christmas tree styling for little ones.
Embrace a Nordic vibe
From hessian sacks through to kraft paper wrapped presents, creating a sustainable, Scandi aesthetic is really easy to achieve. Using warm tones and whites, add in textures using natural materials such as twine, twigs, paper and greenery.
Happy Christmas planning! x
