Calm the chaos, with dreamy neutrals

Children's rooms can be chaotic at the best of times, so by choosing a neutral and grounding palette for their room, we can provide a feeling of space and calm ahead of a good night’s sleep.

DAY BED PASTELS

A neutral colour scheme is believed to enhance young minds, allowing children to develop from their learning activities without too much stimulation.

For a really subtle scheme, White on White is a beautiful way to achieve an elegant look and feel in a child's bedroom (yes, it can be done!) The key here is to ensure that you pick a variety of textures and change up the finishes of accessories to ensure that the room interior still has depth and interest.

Other benefits of neutral bedrooms for children, include that they’re easier to tweak and revamp at a later stage. – From a practical perspective, it’s a lot more straight forward to repaint a Greige wall than it is a bold Red one, for example.

If Grey or Beige aren’t quite right for you, look at muted, earth inspired tones such as Rust or Sage.

You can also layer colour on top of a neutral base far more easily. For example, the Edit bunk bed is shown here in a soft Fawn and Charcoal bedroom scheme, and then with hints of Leaf green added for a refresh. The Green adds a subtle hint of colour, but the room remains neutral because the overarching tones are Black and Beige.

Often a strong gender neutral option, neutral colour palettes for kids rooms are also great when it comes to shared spaces. Why not zone the room, and add their favourite colour as a highlight pop?

When it comes to accessorising, this is where it's easy to introduce slight hints of colour. Take this bedroom featuring the Fargo high sleeper; subtle Thistle and Mint tones alongside the off whites create a soft, calming interior scheme, perfect for sweet dreams.
