With more May bank holidays than we can shake a stick at, you may be left wondering what to do with all the extra time you have on your hands(!)
All jokes aside, spring is a great time to redecorate, and what better time than to create their own jubilant scheme ahead of the impending coronation celebrations this weekend?
So if you're feeling as though your child's room could do with some stately style, here are 7 quick ways to bring a little ‘blighty’ oomph into their bedroom:
- Pick a triadic colour palette of Red, White and Blue, and select some accessories such as lamps, bean bags and cushions to add a pop of patriotism.
2. For a bold statement, style up their beds with Union Jack bedding. Look for reversable bedding like this one so that you can switch up their scheme from time to time.
- For a sweet little touch just for the weekend, why not create a floral posy for their window sill, complete with red poppies or anemonies, bluebells and gypsophilia.
- Create some bunting to string up, using recycled card and paper. Create a collaged effect by cutting and sticking red, white and blue triangles. Use a hole punch to create the holes, and tie up with brown string for a little homemade wow factor. Or, if crafting isn't your thing, we think this bunting by The Green Gables on NOTHS is pretty cute.
- If a complete overhaul is on the cards, why not pick out a Navy Blue bed for added wow factor? Pair with a bold Red or fresh White paint on the walls for a smart scheme that won’t date.
- Rugs are the perfect way to ‘ground’ or ‘anchor’ a visual scheme, and in our book, that means the bigger the better for the cosiest of toes! Look for a Union Jack themed rug to pack a punch in the British style stakes.
- Get the roller out and paint a wall Blue. For added interest and if you have a keen eye for DIY, try adding some panelling or relief detail to the wall for added grandiose.
